UNDATED—Tuesday President Obama heads back into campaign mode to raise money for democrats in New York City.

Experts say the amount of money he raises will be one measure of his popularity nearly a year into his term. Meanwhile, democrats continue to discuss health care reform behind closed doors aiming to craft a reform measure that can pass.

"The big challenge is where do you find a trillion dollars especially when people are already livid about the level of government spending," says Heritage Foundation Spending and Oversight Expert, Ernest Istook.

Negotiators may take note of a new poll, showing 57% of Americans favor a public option.

NBC's Brooke Hart reports on this week's big issues facing the President and lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
