President Barack Obama is pitching his jobs plan in North Carolina, visiting a business that the White House says would benefit from the proposals he's been pressing Congress to pass right away.

The jobs bill Obama sent to Capitol Hill this week includes tax cuts and tax credits designed to encourage businesses to hire. The tax provisions alone make up more than half of the roughly $450 billion plan.

Obama is proposing tax hikes elsewhere to pay for it, and that idea isn't sitting well with congressional Republicans.

Obama outlined his job-creation ideas last week during a speech to Congress. He's been promoting the plan almost daily since then, urging a public worried about the economy and jobs to press Congress to pass the plan and send it to him.
