Officials arrest man they say was trying to ignite brother's house in Longview
Longview, TX — A New York man was charged with arson this afternoon after fire department officials said he tried to set his brother's house on fire.
Longview Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary said officials were dispatched at about 3 p.m. to the 500 block of Oak Street. Once there, Longview police arrested 31-year-old Kevin Darden, of New York City, N.Y.
Zackary said Darden was staying with his brother at the residence. When the homeowner returned home, he said Darden was pouring "an ignitable substance" inside the home.
Officials said they are investigating whether Darden could be tied to an early Monday morning blaze in the 500 block of Church Street, which destroyed a small home.
