Officials holding wild horse, burro adoption

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management is holding a wild horse and burro adoption that began Thursday at the George H. Henderson Jr. Exposition Center and is set to run through Saturday.

More than 50 animals will be featured in the three-day event designed by Congress to preserve and protect wild horses and burros as living symbols of America’s western heritage. Animals being showcased are adult and yearling horses and burros that once roamed free on public lands in the western United States, according to a press release by the bureau.
