Officials are investigating after a plane crash this afternoon in Gladewater.

Gregg County Sheriff’s office personnel and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the crash on Culver Street in Gladewater.

Witnesses at the scene said two men walked away from the crash off the western edge of Gladewater. “Someone should have died. That wasn’t nothing but the Lord,” said Chris Hawley, who had seen the small aircraft coming in very flow from the north around 1:45 p.m.

The plane set down on the edge of a pipeline right of way cleared through thick woods near the Gregg/Upshur county line.
