A warning  for parents as East Texas officials see two drug trends on the rise among teens.

Skittling: which is when kids take prescription and over the counter pills from wherever they can, often times from parent's medicine cabinets and arrange them at parties in colors that look like a rainbow before popping the pills to get high.

The second trend is known as CCC, lean, or, syrup: the abuse of cough syrup, often Promenthazine with Codeine, to get high.

Officials say both cases are illegal and have dangerous side effects.

Pharmacist Shawn Sams warns of the dangers.

" In the higher doses..it can actually be something like LSD where they have hallucinations, increased heart rate..rapid eye movement..and all that can end up putting somebody in cardiac arrest."

Rusk County Sheriff Jeff Price agrees the dangers aren't worth the risk.

" No idea what you're taking..so the possibilities of something major happening is there..because you don't know who brought what or what it is that you're taking."
