C-N-N and Payscale released a ranking with the nation's top 100 jobs.

The rankings were graded by a letter score for personal satisfaction, benefit to society, flexibility, and stress.

The oil industry earned 7 of these spots, with titles in environmental engineering and petroleum geologists.

When creating the scale they considered the average pay and opportunity for job growth.

K-E-T-K spoke with Michael Romine from the Atlantis Oil Company based in Tyler, who understands just how important this is.

Romine said, "We're having to figure out a way to keep good employees, because good employees have options".

Also contributing to this high ranking is the recent boom the oil industry has been experiencing within the last 7 years.

Romine said, "We've seen a substantial growth in the number of people we're dealing with, and the number of wells that are being drilled on a daily basis. I mean even here in East Texas".

So it's only natural that because the stress levels within the industry are ranked very low, and the salaries are very high, these jobs are becoming more popular with students.

Romine says, "In the last 2 or 3 years I hear high school kids talking about their desire to go into engineering and petroleum engineering much more than the 10 years previous to that".
