TYLER - ONCOR said Friday that after conducting their own tests on the smart meters they found more than 1800 people were over-charged about $130.00 because they say smart meter installers read the meters wrong.
ONCOR spokesman Chris Schein says ONCOR is still confident in the meters and says he believes they are accurate.
The Texas Public Utility Commission has hired an independent group to test the meters and results should be in sometime in June.
The Texas PUC says they are testing the smart meters because of the large number of complaints they've received lately.
Already two class action lawsuits have been filed against ONCOR.

The meter on that house the old lady is complaining about is not a smart meter. Thats just the regular amr meter they started installing in 2006. Pay you fare ol lady!!
Of course Oncor is confident in their "Smart Meters". They affect their bottom line in a positive way, unlike the customer that is affected in a negative way. Who is controlling whom?
Add me I have 20 meters in an rv park. OUCH
Add me to the list of dissatisfied customers. My light bill for January was way out of line with previous January bills. I've got gas heating so why did my bill escalate just like those with electric heating? Simple explanation: it shouldn't have done so; it's a money grab situation and they are taking more than full advantage of the cold temperatures to increase their revenues.
