February 17, 2009 - 7:37am
TYLER — ONCOR Electric is offering incentives to homeowners and businesses who install solar panels.
Company officials say the program will offer 7-thousand dollars to alleviate the total cost of 26-thousand dollars.
In order to qualify for the incentive; a homeowner needs to contact one of the participating installation companies.
Regional Operations Manager Charles Hill says the program would benefit customers, the company and the state.
Mr. Hill says, "We think this technology would really help a lot in the future. Right now, it's kind of cutting edge technology, but it's something we think we need to get behind."
ONCOR set aside 16-million dollars for the incentives they'll pay out during the next four years.
