One person is dead and another injured in a shooting that took place early Sunday morning.

It happened at 2:47 a.m. when officers with Marshall Police Department were called to the 100 block of West Pinecrest for reports of shots being fired.

While responding to the scene, officers were told that a person had been shot and Marshall Firefighters and EMT were en route to the scene as well.

On arrival, officers located Jalen Juwan White, 19, of Marshall had been shot. He was taken to a local hospital by ambulance and later succumbed to his injuries.

Another person was shot and taken by a privately owned vehicle to a local  hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.

After further investigation, the suspect in this shooting was identified as Corey Lamar Johnson, 31, of Jefferson.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest and he will be charged with murder.

Marshall Police are asking anyone that has seen Johnson to contact the Marshall Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 903-935-4593.

This incident is still under investigation.
