East Texans were asking for more rain to fill up our lakes and we sure got it, which is great news for our local anglers.

East Texas lake levels have been low over the past few years and with large amount of recent rainfall it has definitely filled up our lakes.

Biologist Richard Ott of Texas Parks and Wildlife says Lake Tyler water levels are looking better than ever. He says in 2012 the Lake Tyler water level was 7.5 feet below. Ott says, the lake levels are above the spillway.

"It is over flowing it's actually almost a foot above the spillway right now so we are in real good shape and we're still probably still going to be getting some more rain off the water shed during this week," says Richard Ott.

We know what East Texans are thinking- Finally the lake is full.

Teresa could you check into when they're going to fix the leaks?
Not much good to have the rain then have it all lost due to the leaks.
The leaks have been getting worse over the years due to no maintenance.
Also water usage is up so fixing the leaks is important.

Thank you for writing in! I can look into it.
