PA child care center closed over abuse allegations
Salem Township, PA (CNN/WNEP) — A child care facility in Salem Township, Pennsylvania was closed last week over allegations of child abuse.
According to the State Department of Welfare, the investigation found the "Just For Kids Day Care and Learning Center," revealed instances of incompetence, negligence and misconduct.
The investigation revealed two staff members of the day care held a child upside down by his ankles to stop him from biting a staff member. They also forced the same child to walk around in his underwear as punishment for soiling his pants and put duct tape around the child's hands and feet to keep him still in his chair.
Neighbors living near the day care say they heard rumors the center was in trouble, but they had no idea just how bad it was.
One neighbor said she is afraid of the owner of the day care and that even before hearing of the allegations, she still would not have sent her child there.
