Parents are given the greatest gift 'a child' and to be a good parent you need to establish a good relationship with your kids. Many find having a personal relationship with Christ is the way to do just that.

KETK spoke to parents and a teacher at Christian school in Tyler on how God affects the way kids live their life. They say, it's the way.

Many raise their children and make life decisions with the guidence of god.

A parent at Grace Community School in Tyler tells KETK,

Faith in her home is very important, and says god prompted her and her husband to put their kids in a faith-based school.

"The Christian faith is very calming, very reassuring to our kids, that God is with them and going to help them and carry them through what they face in their daily life," Susan Kelley, Parent, Grace Community School.

A parent tells KETK, understanding the meaning of faith is an important part of a child's spiritual growth.

"It's really important that we build a strong foundation which I believe the strongest is when you base it on God's word," says Evelyn Moyer, Lindale Parent.

Kelley says faith in her home is the way and she finds it interesting to listen to her kids interact with others.

"My kids do refer to God and how he is in their life and the decisions they make and would that be pleasing to God is that something that we should be doing," Susan Kelley, Parent, Grace Community School.

Director of Curriculum at Grace Community School in Tyler tells KETK,

Their mission in the school is to assist Christian parents.

"The kind of parents we can best assist  are the ones who are...I like to say passionately follow Jesus and take your kids with you," says Karla Foreman, Director of Curriculum, Grace Community School.

I find it ironic that KETK should run this piece when two days ago they ran a piece suggesting the boy scouts were wrong not to allow pansies for scout leaders.

I believe that public schools should teach bible History and Geography only. The rest should be up to the parents. From my own personal experience I have met a number of "christians" who are idiotic in their beliefs, having mostly legalistic points of view. I do not want any public educator teaching my children or grandchildren what to believe and what not to believe. A lot of people say, we have left God out of the schools. In some ways that is a good thing, and I say that as a christian.
