In efforts to push for better funding to support state parks, a representative from the Keep Texas Parks Open movement spoke to the Marshall Lions Club recently about the initiative.

“This is a very bi-partisan issue,” said Ken Flippen, a representative of League of Conservation Voters Educational Fund, one of the movement’s sponsoring groups. “Hopefully, this is an issue that touches beyond the rural and urban (lines), (and) East Texas, West Texas. It’s something that really does affect all of us and hopefully we can learn a little bit about how important our parks are,” he said.
