Patrick new commander of 2nd Air Force
BILOXI, Miss. — (AP) - Brig. Gen. Leonard A. Patrick has taken command of the 2nd Air Force at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi.
Patrick succeeds Maj. Gen. Mary Kay Hertog, who is taking an assignment in Washington after two years in command of the 2nd Air Force.
The 2nd Air Force is responsible for conducting basic military and technical training for the Air Force, other branches of the military and some foreign nations.
The group oversees training at not only Keesler, but also at Goodfellow, Lackland and Sheppard Air Force bases in Texas, one training group at Vandenberg AFB, Calif., and more than 92 other
training detachments around the globe.
The 2nd Air Force has nearly 16,000 active duty and civilian personnel stationed at more than 110 locations.
