EDINBURG, Texas — The U.S. Border Patrol says its agents seized nearly 2 ½ tons of marijuana as well as ammunition during several weekend drug busts in South Texas.
Officials announced Monday the nearly 5,000 pounds of marijuana that were seized has a value of nearly $4 million.
The largest seizure came on Friday when agents found more than 600 pounds of the drug on a ranch near Rio Grande City, located about 40 miles northwest of McAllen on the Texas-Mexico border.
The marijuana was found in several underground containers on the ranch. Authorities also found 80 ammunition magazines, several of which were fully loaded.
