Celebrity chef and Food Network star Paula Deen has revealed she has type 2 diabetes.

Deen told NBC's "Today" show this morning that she was diagnosed with disease three years ago.

Deen is teaming with drugmaker Novo Nordisk to launch a program that aims to help people live with Type 2 diabetes and promote a Novo diabetes drug.

The program is called Diabetes in a New Light and offers tips on food preparation, stress management and working with doctors on a treatment plan. Recipes and tips can be found at www.Diabetesinanewlight.com.

Type 2 is the most common form of diabetes. In Type 2 diabetes, the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not use it efficiently, allowing excess sugar, or glucose, to accumulate in the blood.

I have seen number of fat free recipes of Paula Deen. But this is really shocking news for me that she has type 2 diabetes. But she is doing a very good job for the other diabetics by sharing her amazing recipes for diabetics.

Deen should be ashamed of herself...she has kept this information private for 3 years while she processed the diagnosis, all the while merrily going about featuring fat food for her audience to drool over...one might suspect that she kept quiet for the simple reason that if the news was made public, cookbook sales would fall and her bottom line would be affected. She says she will not change her cooking style, so get ready for more butter, fat, and wasted calories. I, for one, am over Deen!
