Pay raises — did you get yours?
Houston area continues to lead the nation in bumping up salaries
Houston — You may not have gotten a raise for a while, but somebody did: Houston led the nation's top 15 metropolitan areas in wage and salary increases over the past year, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Monday.
Houston-area private sector workers received an average raise of 3.7 percent from March 2010 to March 2011, compared to a national average of 1.6 percent, according to the bureau.
It's the second consecutive quarter that Houston has been on top. From December 2009 to December 2010, residents in the 12-county area that includes Huntsville and Galveston received average raises of 3.4 percent compared with the U.S. average of 1.8 percent.
