A pedestrian was hit by a car and then the driver sped off, according to Tyler police. The accident happened Saturday night just before 10 p.m. the 400 block of North Beckham street.

Police say the man who was hit was 32-year-old Efran Maldonado. Authorities who took the report say, Maldonado was crossing the street on N. Beckham and then was hit by a white newer-model, dodge charger.

The driver of that charger then took off, police say.  Maldonado was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
