The longest serving Texas Governor has made a decision.

And the reverberations from that decision are just now being felt.

So, it’s official. Governor Rick Perry will not be running for a 4th term.

He took over as Governor when George W. Bush was elected President in 2000. He has served 3 terms and what some are calling “Perry fatigue” may have set in.

Recent polls show most Texas republicans prefer Ted Cruz for President, and most of his big money donors, and his staff, have migrated to Attorney General Greg Abbott’s campaign for the top job.

And with Perry out of the race for Gov, Abbott is in the catbird seat.

But what about a future in national politics, more precisely, another run for President? Perry left that door open.

The miserable 2012 Perry campaign and its accompanying gaffs are still fresh on voter’s minds.

But Perry has been on the road a lot lately, garnering lots of free media to help his re-emergence on the national scene.

But the smart money says a Chris Christie or Marco Rubio would have a distinct advantage in a debate.

And it’s easier to raise money as a governor than as a private citizen.

So, the end is in sight for Rick Perry’s governorship…Let the race begin.

He's planning another presidential run that's what the all important critical abortion bill is all about. It's taken him 12 years to act on this non issue. The supreme court has ruled on abortion, and they show no indication of taking up the issue again. This a blatant example of pandering to the christian right, and as a christian conservative I'm not buying his BS!
Rubio is doing the same kind of pandering with the amnesty bill. Alienating 65% of his base to gain alien votes.

I don't know Don, I don't like him as a person, but he did a lot for Texas and its citizens. He was a lot better than the last 5 we have had by a long shot.

Best News this state has had in over 20 years!!!!!
