Texas Gov. Rick Perry says he has some time to think about whether he should run for president.

The three-term Republican governor told Fox News in an interview Tuesday that he needs to go through "a thought process" before deciding whether to seek the GOP nomination.

Perry is the longest serving governor in Texas history and has fanned speculation he'll join the 2012 GOP race. Perry's closest advisers say he has no intention of running, though last month Perry said he was "going to think about it."

Perry would bring conservative bona fides, a proven fundraising record and a fresh voice to a field in which many conservatives are looking for an alternative to front-runner Mitt Romney.

The former Massachusetts governor is making his second bid for the GOP nomination.

Mitt Romney: the media pick for front-runner. I'll give Perry my vote for president of the US if he will agree to give Texas the secession she deserves. In that scenario, we could all turn our back's on the corrupt federal socialist government and vote ourselves free again with Ron Paul as president of Texas. As the world's 8th largest economy, Texans have earned the right to live free, unmolested by the federal reserve which steals our wealth by printing dollars into worthlessness.
