As summer travel picks up, people in one line of business aren't complaining.

We're talking about those who take care of your pets while your out of town.

Chris Coonan is the owner of Treasured Critters, an in-home pet care service in Tyler.

"I go to people's homes, walk dogs, feed them, take care of  the house while you're gone," Coonan said.

Though Coonan says she keeps busy year-round, the summer is her bread and butter.

"(We are) much much busier," Coonan said. "During the summer, in fact, my busy week is gonna start next week."

How much busier are we talking?

Coonan says summertime work picks up by about 50 percent.

"Last summer, I would do 15 visits a day," Coonan said. "That's how busy I would get. And then, I have a sitter that works for me."

Yep: In the summer, even the sitter has a sitter.

Treasured Critters is just one example of the growing number of options for pet care while you're out of town.

With Safe Haven Grooming and Boarding in Bullard, pets don't get to stay at their home, but they are still kept at home, with Tamara Russell.

"We only take a few at a time, so they become part of our family," Russell said. "And they don't go in cages unless it's necessary. They are in and out of the house."
