Petapalooza is back!

"The goal is to find a home for as many dogs as possible," said Vicki Cooper Springer, dog trainer and pet resort owner. "Good homes."

With all kinds of animals up for adoption... from dogs, to cats, and even horses! And the need for people to adopt is so great here in East Texas.

"This is what we're focused on today," said Pat Caldwell, co-founder and event organizer.  "The problem in East Texas."

Animal overpopulation continues to be a problem and these animals need your help.

"We've actually had three of our minis adopted today," said Ron Beaver, volunteer director of Serenity Horse Haven.

He said if people did not adopt their horses, it would hinder their ability to help other horses in need.

"We've got limited facilities," Beaver said. "So when we get full we cant bring in more critical horses so it's very important we get them adopted out, that way we can bring more horses in that need our care."

And the event was not just about adoption.

"The focus on spay and neuter is so important," Cooper Springer said. "So maybe we don't have to have an event like this in the future."

Cooper Springer got her dog last year at the event and told KETK if more people spay and neutered their animals and trained them there would not be such a problem in East Texas.

"Dogs that are trained have an improved quality of life, greater freedom, and they'll keep their homes," Cooper Springer said.
