Phase two of BP trial begins on Monday
(CNN) — The second phase of the BP oil spill trial will begin on Monday.
This time, the focus is on what the British Oil Company did to stop the flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico after the 2010 spill, and how much oil actually seeped into the ocean.
BP is fighting the claims that it was grossly negligent in its handling of the Deepwater Horizon disaster.
Plaintiffs say the company knew a catastrophic spill was possible but BP was no prepared when it happened.
It took nearly three months to stop the flow of oil into the ocean.
If found grossly negligent, BP could face a pollution find of up to $18 billion.
