ABILENE — Pine Tree's Eddie Calico capped his junior powerlifting season with a state championship.

Calico posted a three-lift total of 1,810 pounds to claim the Division I crown in the 242-pound weight class at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association state meet Saturday at Abilene's Expo Center of Taylor County.

Calico not only won the Division I (Class 4A-5A) title for his weight class, but earned the overall championship for all three divisions in the 242-pound class.
