Pine Tree ISD freshmen to begin learning with iPads
Longview — Pine Tree High School freshmen will soon be able to complete assignments without pencil and paper.
Next month, the school district plans to issue an iPad Mini to each of its ninth graders as part of the “One-to-one iPad Initiative,” according to Pine Tree Assistant Superintendent Daya Hill.
“The big question right now is the 21st century skills,” she said Monday. “Some of them are collaboration, communication, critical thinking, problem solving and curiosity — those types of things. We’re trying to do our best to get away from the paper and pencil tasks to where students are really collaborating with one another.”
Pine Tree technology staff and students worked Monday to configure more than 350 iPad Minis so each will be ready by the targeted rollout date of Nov. 5.
