Over the weekend, Boy and Cub Scout, as well as members of the Cherokee County Master Gardeners helped plant new trees at the Nichols Arboretum in Jacksonville.

It was a project set up by the Texas Forest Service, in order to help educate the community.

Projects like these are needed more than ever in light of the 2011 summer drought which devastated the entire area.

The group will be holding another tree planting project in Maydell on Saturday February 16th.
