UNDATED—Pirates takeover an American cargo ship Monday morning.
Naval forces rushed to the eastern coast of Africa Thursday morning, after pirates off the coast of Somalia abduct the Captain of the U.S. ship.
This is the first U.S. ship taken by pirates and the incident raises concern with the Obama Administration.
"We think the world must come together to end the scourge of piracy," says Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.
The incident could mean more sea security steps, such as safe zones and convoys for
U.S. freighters.
U.S. sources say the Maersk shipping company has told the military to back off and to let them negotiate releasing the hostage. However, it could involve ransom and officials worry that would only make pirate gangs bolder.
