Pizza before Turkey?

November 26, 2008 - 7:21pm
TYLER - Before families across the nation enjoy their Thanksgiving feast, many fuel the night before on America's favorite food: pizza.
According to sales from some of America's top pizza chains, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the third-hottest pizza delivery night of the year. The two most popular days for pizza? Halloween and Super Bowl Sunday.
As families get ready for Turkey Day and travelers arrive at their destination, having pizza delivered is the easiest solution for dinner. Many people are preparing to spend much of Thursday in the kitchen and don't want the hassle of spending time cooking and cleaning up on Wednesday.
And it's not just the big pizza chains who will see a spike in sales Wednesday night. Locally owned pizza places have also been preparing for the extra load of orders. "Were hoping it's going to be a pretty busy night," Manager of Double Dave's, Michael Armstrong, said. "We'll definitely see a increase in sales."
And not only are pizza delivery guys giving thanks, Thanksgiving Eve has traditionally been a night where bar and club owners also see a spike in business.
