TYLER — It seems Santa Claus got a lot of requests for plastic surgery this year.
In all, officials say there were more than 11 million cosmetic procedures performed on women in the U.S. in 2010.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, that's up 81% from 10 years ago.
One local doctor tells KETK, this time of year is a busy time for him.
He believes its due, in part to the economy.
He says in larger cities, plastic surgery might be given as a gift around the holidays, but in East Texas, it's a different story.
Dr. James Motlagh says, "Most patients come here toward the end of the year because they've met their deductibles on insurance or they use the holiday season to recover."
Last year alone, Americans spent more than 10 billion dollars on cosmetic surgeries.
