Bill Plunkett described himself Tuesday as “a happy man.”

Karren Price, the appointed independent special prosecutor in the investigation of Bill Plunkett, Exposition Center manager who has been on administrative leave with pay since Aug. 3, 2011, has declined to prosecute him, County Attorney John Fleming told The Daily Sentinel Tuesday.

“My understanding is that there will not be charges filed against him,” Fleming said.

“I want to thank my family and the friends who called when this thing was first initiated, who have supported me and have known from the very onset that there was nothing behind these allegations,” Plunkett said.

“I’ve been a patient man and kept very quiet,” he said. “I made myself available for any type of request from the investigating Ranger, and the Ranger did not even have to interview me.

“I’m looking forward to hearing what the commissioners would like to do,” he said. “I’m ready to go back to work.”

As to the specifics of Price’s investigative conclusion, Fleming referred questions to Price, who had not returned calls as of Tuesday afternoon.

Attorney Tim James, who was representing Plunkett in the investigation, described Price’s decision as “very professional judgment.”
