Police: Shooting in Gladewater

Gilmer, TX — The Gladewater Police Department tells KETK that at 11:12 A.M. on August 2 they were called to a fight in a alley behind 222 S. Main Street.
Upon, their arrival they encountered a man with a knife who refused to put it down.
In an attempt to get the man to drop the knife non-lethal means were utilized, but the taser had no effect either time it was used.
The man was able to fight the eggercts of the taser and charged at the officers.
At which point, the officers fired at the suspect.
He was then transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center by ambulance where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
UPDATE: Fifty-five-year-old Willie Green has died as a result of injuries received during an altercation with police.
The family of Willie Green tells KETK that their relative was shot and killed this morning in the parking lot of B & C furniture where he was an employee.
Green was fighting with another man, possibly over a female when police attempted to tase him. However, the tazer did not work and deadly force was required.
Witnesses at the scene tell KETK one man was shot after trying to stab a Gladewater policeman.
Allegedly two men were fighting when they were approached by a Gladewater officer. One of the men tried to stab the officer, and he shot the man in defense.
Gladewater police officials have confirmed a shooting in city limits.
