Police: Suspect told friend he killed Texas pastor
ARLINGTON, Texas —
(AP) - A man in police custody says his friend
told him that he robbed a Texas church and killed the young pastor
by suffocating him.
That's according to Arlington police documents released Monday
in last week's slaying of the Rev. Clint Dobson.
A ministry assistant was severely beaten in the crime at NorthPointe Baptist
Arlington police say tips from the public led to Saturday's
arrest of a person of interest whose name isn't being released.
That man told detectives that he had gone shopping with Steven
Lawayne Nelson using the church employee's stolen credit cards.
Nelson faces a capital murder charge after his Saturday arrest.
The other man is being jailed on unrelated charges, and police
haven't said if he was at the church that day.
