LONGVIEW - On September 16, 2010 at around 5:54 p.m., Longview Officers were dispatched to the Sunset Inn at 1308 West Marshall Avenue for a report of a shooting that just occurred.

Officers arrived and located 47-year-old Lucian Alexander of Longview with a gunshot wound to the head. Witnesses stated that Alexander and another man had been fighting in the parking lot, when a woman stepped up and shot Alexander. The female suspect and the man fighting with Alexander then fled in a silver Toyota Camry.

The Longview Fire Department/EMS transported Alexander to Good Shepherd Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

As officers searched for the suspect vehicle, it was located by the brother of the shooting victim traveling on State Highway 31 at Interstate 20. Longview Officers stopped the vehicle on Interstate 20, just west of Longview and detained the female driver and male passenger. A 9mm handgun was located inside the car.

After taking statements and collecting evidence, detectives charged the female driver, Janet Embry, with aggravated assault (2nd degree felony) and booked her into the Gregg County Jail.
