Political Halloween costumes

October 26, 2008 - 9:24pm

TYLER - With Halloween just around the corner many are rushing to get their costumes together. And if you're planning on dressing up as one of the political candidates, it may be too late.

Every year children and even some adults go to extremes when it comes to their Halloween costumes. This year for children the most popular costumes have been Hannah Montana and High School Musical for the girls, and pirates and football players for the boys. But for the adults its been Obama and McCain.

Spirit Halloween is the place for Halloween costumes in Tyler and the owner said they ran out of McCain and Obama masks within the first week of opening for the season. And with both of these masks already sold out, the only political figures face you can see in Halloween stores is Hillary Clintons. And unfortunately it looks like Hilary masks may stay on the shelves.

And legend has it that over the past few elections, the Halloween masks could predict the winner of the election.

"But around here I'm not sure," said storeowner Charlotte Gomez. "Looks like Obama masks have not gone to people who are supporters. They are used for other things."

And according to the recent NBC poll, as of Sunday the Halloween masks could be correct this election also. Obama is still ahead.
