TYLER - Smith County election officials say they're anticipating a record number of voters at the county's 68 polling locations Tuesday.

In order to prepare for election day, officials have hired additional election day workers. They will have extra voting machines on standby and eleven phone lines to answer questions for voters.

Almost 50,000 people voted early in Smith County, election officials said. They are anticipating an additional 45,000 will cast their ballot on Tuesday.

Last year the voting total at this time was about 30,000.
