G-8 Leaders Focus on Climate Change
July 9, 2009 - 7:46am
UNDATED—President Obama puts climate change front and center at the G-8 conference Thursday, leading a meeting of the world's top polluters.
Wednesday, G-8 nations pledged to limit global warming to 3.6 degrees. However, China and India balked at specific goals to cut emissions.
On the global economy, G-8 leaders said stimulus plans are still necessary. Meanwhile, in Washington republicans called President Obama's stimulus plan a failure.
Growing concerns over jobs are costing the President support. Vice President Joe Biden travels to Ohio Thursday, where unemployment rates have topped ten percent and as of this week more people in the state disapprove than approve of the Obama administration's handling of economic issues.
