Governor Rick Perry visits with Texas soldiers and talks upcoming legislative session

January 7, 2009 - 8:44am
Iraq—
Governor Rick Perry is in Iraq - along with two other governors on a trip hosted by the Department of Defense.
While there, Governor Perry talked about a number of issues impacting
Texans - including the economy and the upcoming legislative session.
The Governor said; "We (Legislators) need to be smart. We don't need to spend all the money. I think we have to look at ways to give some of that money back to taxpayers in the form of tax cuts...because that is the way to really stimulate the economy."
This is the Governor's first visit to Iraq since 2006.
