Neal Barton's POV

24 lbs. of 'I don't know'

We've been through the "Obamacare" debacle when Nancy Pelosi said, "We need to pass the bill so we could see what was in it," and every time I type that line, I cannot believe she was not laughed out of the country.

Now, we're being told the same thing about a 24-pound immigration bill.

The bill still leaks like a sieve.

The Weekly Standard caught up with five Senators who ought to know what's in the bill because they are touting it and voting for it.

The first was retiring Senator Max Baucus from Montana.

He was asked about hiring illegals for tax breaks which is in the bill.

He said, "We're trying to solve that right now. I don't know if that's been solved. I don't know. I'd have to look at it closely, I just haven't read it that closely to know."

Richard Bloomenthal of Connecticut said, 'I'd have to check."

Senator Tom Carper of Delaware said he was too busy to answer the question.

Senator Barbara Boxer of California replied with something of a non-sequitur before the Senators-only elevator doors closed in the reporter's face, "I think if you work for an employer who offers health care, you will get the health care you want," Boxer said. Spokesmen for Senators McCain and Rubio did not reply to a request for comment.

They don't know.

They're ramming it through for political and monetary reasons.

That's my point of view, what's yours?

What do you expect when an IRS top level manager is caught red handed helping a friend get goverment contracts worth $500 million dollars, hides behind the fifth amendment and communicates with his friends using e-mail name of Faggot and Queerbait. Then claims disabled veteran status foa a sprained ankle from a fotball game played in a military school in front of a congresswoman who is an Iraq war veteran and a double amputee. like Mike Huckbee, I don't even recognize my own country anymore.

Dave and Deaf are absolutely right. Fellow citizens, this is what you have voted for. Now, maybe you won't be so "giddy" when a celebrity politician shows up a few weeks before election. Had enough yet?

I really wish they would pass legislation that required every bill to be read out loud on the floor of the senate and house prior to voting for it. This would make it a lot more difficult to slip in outrageous pork projects. It would also give voters a chance to see how the sausage is made. And probably the best benefit would be a lot less legislation passed. We really don't need a new immigration law, especially a law we can't pay for. Watch "fiscal cliff 2", coming in September!

Yes it's the old Pelosi, "we have to vote on it to see what is in it" shtick.

And you now know how well THAT worked out.

Hope for some BIG changes in 2014!
