Neal Barton's POV

Don't lecture me on what you're ignorant about

Just this week “The Denver Post”  newspaper held a gun forum discussing firearm legislation.

Colorado is on the cusp of passing one of the most sweeping gun bills in our nation.

U.S. Democratic Congressman, Diana Degette, has been a Democratic point person for years to try and clamp down on gun sales.

Remember, she is a U.S. lawmaker who votes on laws which affect all of America.

She has proclaimed herself an expert in the field of weaponry and is leading the charge against high capacity magazines, until she made these comments at the forum.

Did you hear that?

She thinks once you use a magazine, you throw it away. She doesn't even realize you reload them with bullets. She is ignorant.

Asked about her “faux pas,” her assistant said she didn't mean magazines she means clips.

She dug herself into a deeper hole. If you don't know firearms you don’t know what I’m talking about.

If you do, you realize she is trying to legislate something she doesn't’t know anymore about than a pig does Sunday.

And the halls of Congress are full of them.

That’s my point of view, what’s yours?

i have an idea... how about we stop following amendments that were written before electricity! we need new modern laws and rules in a new age. welcome to 2013!

Wrong! Our Constitution is as modern and applicable today as when it was written, in spite of Justice Ginsburg being embarrassed of it. It's value to our modern lives is second only to the Bible. It's hated by the ruling elite because it affords rights to all Americans, not just the ruling elite. We need the right to bear arms to protect ourselves from the tyranny of our own gov't.

Tonks, I have no idea what you are talking about. . READ THE FOLLOWING: Amendment II. A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. Look at the meaning of that: 1.Actively break the terms of (a law, agreement, etc.): "infringe a copyright".
2.Act so as to limit or undermine (something); encroach on: "infringe on his privacy".

Ratt READ THE FOLLOWING: Amendment II. A well regulated militia, (A WELL REGULATED) being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. In District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 the Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment "protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia,& to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, but also stated that "the right is not unlimited.

It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose". They also clarified that many longstanding prohibitions and restrictions on firearms possession listed by the Court are consistent with the Second Amendment.

My point is that legislators make ignorant statements ALL.THE.TIME. The only time most folks notice is when it affects their precious firearms. For the militia and all.

Actually she was making a Freudian slip.

She talked about banning bullets... and you see from the massive shortage of ammunition in the shelves of stores (and the DHS buying BILLIONS of rounds) they are testing the waters to basically ban bullets since they cannot ban guns.

I kid you not. They will try EVERY avenue they can to somehow disarm the populace.

Maybe she meant, "paper clips". These are the same people who bring us climate change/global warming and second-hand cigarette smoke legislation. More than ignorant buffoons, they shape the nation's laws to conform to the wishes of those who give them an agenda, paid in full by the position they hold. With a state run media it is impossible for the American citizen to evaluate these puppets. Remember Michelle Bachmann? That "deer-in-the-headlight" look was no act. Let's start testing them.

Republican male legislators are constantly making garbage statements like "you can't get pregnant if you are legitimately raped' as if they are scientific experts on the female body. They typically make these statements in an attempt to justify some type of invasive legislation designed to get the government all in a female's reproductive issues. Clearly they do not know more than a pig does Sunday.
