East Texans, always caring

Tonight I have good news about a sad topic.

I am not a parent, but I can not imagine anything more joyful than bringing home that little baby your wife just had from the hospital.

On the other hand, I cannot imagine anything more gut wrenching than that child being born, but it doesn't go home with you.

There is death.

One reason I love this state and this particular part of the state is because we care and we help when the chips are down.

I first ran across this story on Facebook, of all places.

A Dallas TV station was reporting about a place in North Texas that takes in wedding dresses.

Wedding dresses for burial clothes to be made to bury children who never make it home with mom and dad from the hospital.

I know, to many women, one of the most precious possessions they keep is that dress from that happy day.

And the fact so many were willing to part with them for this reason and I won't kid you, made me well up.

I wondered why no one in East Texas was doing this because this is the most giving place I know.

Well come to find out there is a place in Lufkin.

The success rate for donations there, has been great too.

We have also done stories about Angel Layettes in Tyler.

They make burial clothes for infants.

This makes me proud.

You'll always find people who are willing to jump aboard projects when times are good.

But, it's your friends who show up when times are bad.

There is nothing worse than losing a child.

It makes me proud to know other Texans and especially East Texans are there when our neighbors really need us.

That's my point of view what's yours?
