tyler — One piece at a time, the P.C. police are stealing our country from us.
Back in the 80s, Lee Greenwood has a monster hit you still hear on the radio "God bless the USA."
This week at an elementary school in Massachusetts, a group of students were to sing that song.
But, at the last minute, the teachers told the student they would not be able to sing God Bless the USA, instead they must sing we LOVE the USA.
Parents were outraged.
When confronted, the superintendent tap-dancing said this was never supposed to get out of hand like this.
He said this was simply a lesson about geography and states.
In a whiney-baby move, he said they would not sing the song at all. The fire from parents continued.
Now, the song will be sung by the schoolchildren, but they have the option to sing we love the USA or God Bless the USA.
When I looked back to when this song was a huge hit for Lee Greenwood, how different the
world was and it wasn't that long ago.
The fact we are talking about this is a bit frightening.
Charlton Heston said it correctly, political correctness is polite tyranny.
No a shot has been fired, thank God, but little by little the P.C. police have been at their work.
Chipping and chipping and making it uncool, unhip or insensitive to do anything that may offend.
Through their skullduggery, the few are ruling the many because most folks are too scared to say something, fight back or will appear corny if they stand up for traditional American values.
We all have to weigh in.
And that means you and me getting more out of our comfort zones.
That's my point of view, what's yours?
