Neal Barton's POV

Finally, some foreign policy

I finally heard some foreign policy this morning in a speech. Unfortunately,  it was not from the president.

It was from challenger, Mitt Romney.

George Washington once said, "in a time of peace, prepare for war."

Romney spoke of a lot of old warriors today like General George Marshall. You know, brilliant men who knew something about winning a war. He spoke from the Virginia Military Institute where Marshall was a student.

Romney , I think, rightfully, accused the president of fundamentally misunderstanding the threat of radical Islam. President Obama is rejecting six decades of bipartisan consensus by not flexing more U.S. muscle on the world stage.

Romney spoke of how we mishandled the situation in Libya . The president's first reaction was to blame an Internet video mocking Islam. We're still fighting about was it a movie that caused the destruction or terrorism.

Romney is right when he says "Hope is not a strategy."

We cannot support our friends and defeat our enemies in the Middle East when our words are not backed up by deeds, when our defense spending is being arbitrarily and deeply cut, when we have no trade agenda to speak of, and the perception of our strategy is not one of partnership, but of passivity."

We need leadership.

That's my point of view, what's yours?

willard's foreign policy consists of challenging China (funny he should do that...he's a master at outsourcing jobs to China), bombing Iran off the map, and acting like king willard to the rest of the world community. chuck placed blame on President Obama's administration while, under Obama's leadership, Kadaffi (sp) was taken out, Bin Laden was taken out, the troops are coming home from Afghanistan, and on and on...nice try, chuck...doesn't hold water. Happy to cancel out your vote, chuck.

Yep, let's craft a pre-emptive strike on Iran...check. Let's launch a few stealth bombers over Syria...check. Let's goad China into war to show them just who actually is the big dog on the planet...check. Let's call up all men and women from the middle class and the poor and give them some wars to fight...check. Let's make tons of $ for all the investors in the military supply industry...check. willards way and $2 trillion later, economic boon for his buddies...great plan, repubs!

Yep, let's fund Al Queda Rebels in a civil war in Syria...check. Let's put boots on the ground in Yeman...check. Let's invade Libya and assassinate their president..check. Let's start a civil war in Sudan...check. Let's keep troops in Afghanistan...blank check. Let's send drones into Pakistan...check. Let's start another cold war with Russia and China...check. You calling the Republican foreign policy bad from a democrats perspective is like the pot calling the kettle black.

Now here is a fellow who sounds presidential. Finally!

You can tell neil has never been to war, or seen a battlefield. You go defend our friends in the Middle East first neil, then come back and recommend it to the youth of this nation. If politicians and media hacks went to the front of the line, they wouldn't be so quick to volunteer the rest of us.
