Neal Barton's POV

Free health care is not free

Now many in this great country are finding out that free health care is not free or easy. We passed the messy bill and now, according to Nancy Pelosi, we are reading it and it's wobbly and all over the place.

It's also very expensive. But it was supposed to be free.

The LA Times reports, As the state moves to expand healthcare coverage to millions of Californians under President Obama's healthcare law, it faces a major obstacle: There aren't enough doctors to treat a crush of newly insured patients.

They are working on proposals that would allow physician assistants to treat more patients and nurse practitioners to set up independent practices. Pharmacists and optometrists could act as primary care providers, diagnosing and managing some chronic illnesses, such as diabetes and high-blood pressure.

The New York Post reports Start with the IRS's new estimate for what the cheapest family plan will cost by 2016: $20,000 a year to cover two adults and three kids. And that will only cover 60 percent of medical bills, so add hefty out-of-pocket costs, too.

The next surprise is for parents who thought their kids would be covered by an employer. Sloppy wording in the law left that unclear until last week, when the IRS ruled that kids won't be covered.

We could have targeted those who needed health care. But, no, they wanted control over the entire system. And all that free stuff is not free.

I don't think this is going to work. Even low information voters are going to start figuring this out.

That's my point of view, what's yours?

Well pardon us for living, those of us who are uninsured. (Not to mention unemployed but is a topic for another day)...What do you suggest we do? Trust me when I say that if you ever find yourself without medical insurance for a few years, Obamacare will seem like a good idea to you. ANY thing would seem like a good idea to those of us who have to use the ER for basic care. Many Americans who have always worked and been insured now find themselves without medical care. Its a disgrace.

according to the t-idiots & the republicans you are a slacker, leech, dead beat, scum if you are not working.Doesn't matter how long you have worked in the past and you are un-american according to them if you expect to be paid a livable wage and expect health insurance, after all those kids in china only make 97 cents a day so why should you make more?

HMMMM! What passion and resentment from the rank and file in these responses. I think all of this is mindless and pointless. This country is $16 trillion in debt, yet we supply foriegn aid to many countries who have a healthier economy than us.
Just to help us get our minds round that number, One Trillion Seconds (Time) equals 31,688 Years, 269 Days. 16 trillion seconds = 507,008 years. "HALF A MILLION YEARS". In addition to that, we offer healthcare on borrowed money. Preposterous at best!

Take the profits out of health care and everyone could afford health care....even those who work for China-Mart, OH I mean Wal-Mart.

TINSTAAFL! There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Somewhere, somehow, someday YOU WILL PAY FOR IT. And after the bureaucrats cut, you will pay MORE for it than if you just forked over the cash.

Like Bambi waiting on his mother to return, Neal waits for his America to return "after low information voters figure this out". What a moronic thing for a man to believe, how dumb can stupid be? Let me make it simple for you Neal, when Biden said; "this is the real F'n deal", he meant this is the point in time our nation becomes a socialist state. The "low information" (stupid) votes you hope to save the day are overjoyed that you are to become their economic equals. Your media is responsible

THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH. SOMEONE PAYS FOR THAT LUNCH, INCLUDING THE FREE CELL PHONES ETC. BTW, I didn't vote for this scam of the century that Nancy Pelosi said we must pass it so we can see what is in it. It is hard to believe that anyone in this country would vote for such NONSENSE. Next time America you had better sit up and pay attention to what they DO instead of what they Say. Winning smiles don't cut it any longer.

Katie, over the years I have watched you wake-up to the truth, and I am pleased that others see what I see, we have been taken-over from within. I hope you realize media's role and that you understand we really have no vote when outcomes are predetermined. George Kaiser, the architech of Obamacare and of both KaiserPremente and Solyndra fame, lives in Pelosi's district and is the 10th richest man in the world. A jewish refugee family, Kaiser couldn't be more pleased that you must buy his product
