Funny how the worm turns

The United States was in the Iraq War because of the September 11th attacks in which evil people killed many of us.

Even during the middle of that war, one Senator made this impassioned speech, and I quote:

"I don't oppose all wars. What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other armchair, weekend warriors in this administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne. What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income, to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression. That's what I'm opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics."

That speech was given by Illinios Senator, Barack Obama.

Funny how the worm turns, isn’t it?

That's my point of view, what's yours?

Syria is not the same as Iraq. With all the similarities, there are also differences. That being said, I can't help but wonder why Obama is so dead set on doing this. Save for maybe France, no other country is backing him, it's unwanted from both his supporters and detractors. In Stockholm, he was animate that it wasn't his reputation on the line. So what's he got to lose by not acting? And if he does act, will violence in Syria get worse?

I'm not a fan of Bush 1 or Bush Jr, however I ask myself if the world is better off without dictators and muderous thugs like Sadam Husein. Sadam modeled himself after Hitler and left unchecked would have tried to follow in his hero's footsteps. Regardless of the reason, the world is better off without this thug.

So ETR, you support Obama attacking syria and its dictator?

"The United States was in the Iraq War because of the September 11th attacks in which evil people killed many of us."

Are there still sheep around that believe this? You start "Point of view" with this proven, lie?? Do you have any dignity? You sir are a joke.

Bush Planned to invade Iraq before he entered office. Plans were drawn up to split the region between oil companies. NONE of 9/11 attackers were from Iraq or part of 9/11 Bush admitted himself. Plenty of credible sources available.

General Wesley Clark spoke during the 2007 presidential primaries. He stated clearly that the plans for the invasion of Iraq existed as far back as 1991. He also talked about plans to invade Libya, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Somalia, Iran, and Sudan.

We backed Sadam in his war against Iran, and he used chemical weapons. The majority are against this that's why media shills have to sell us on the idea.

The Pentagon have plans for invading practically everybody, so why shouldn't there have been plans for Iraq; they'd be derelict in NOT planning. That's what they get paid to do- plan for defense or counterattack. Wesley Clark is a tool.

Yeah, America has contingency plans for invading every hostile country on the planet. What the hey? Are we the world police? We can't even secure our own border.
Let's raise your taxes and draft your kids and grand kids to go fight in Syria. Wesley Clark is the 1966 Valedictorian at West Point. He holds the Silver Star · Presidential Medal of Freedom · Defense Distinguished Service Medal · Legion of Merit - Bronze Star Medal · Purple Heart · Distinguished Service Medal · National Order of Merit.

Get your facts straight. Saddam was a tool being used to keep Syria and Lybia away from Saudi Arabia and Israel, he was certainly never a love child and had to be handled with extreme care- sort of like the killer trained family pit bull. We only backed Iraq against Iran until he used chemical weapons- and that's where the support stopped. Your revisionist propaganda is flawed.

We went to war with Iraq so W. Bush could show up his dad.

Took him at his word? Even after inspectors found nothing? Bush preferred oil over getting the person responsible for 9-11 as the CIA told the military and White House in November that Bin Laden was in the foot hills of Afghanistan and needed US forces to force him out as the only reliable resources they had at the time was The Northern Alliance, the rest were loyal to Bin Laden. They told them if help did not arrive soon he would make it to the border of Pakistan and disappear and he did.

...and barton NEVER changes his mind for the better...God forbid he should become enlightened enough to change his viewpoint on anything...keep the steel trapdoor shut keeping radical, right-of-right, ultra-conservative stuff coming, satisfying the majority in Tyler and ET...come to think of it, very little is original with neal...his rhetoric comes from his idols beck, Hannity, rushbo, and that stellar company of liars, faux news. Dirt in, dirt out, I suppose.

You are wrong on one account, we went to Iraq for oil not 9-11, Bin laden was in Afghanistan not Iraq and they knew it the whole time.

I disagreed with invading Iraq. It wasn't necessary. Not even for the oil- we could have all the oil we wanted with oil for food- but we weren't importing their oil, Europe was. So your invading Iraq for the oil argument doesn't hold water-er- petrol.... It was a mistake to invade- but the WMD concern was valid. He had the WMD's, fer krissakes, he'd used them on the Iranians and the Kurds- while delaying inspections, he was packing them off to Syria. He just barely manged it.. Bush blew it.

WhatTheHey I agree Sadams weapons probably were shipped to Syria.Sadam and Assad are both members of the Bathe party.

Neal stated "Tyler, Texas (KETK) — The United States was in the Iraq War because of the September 11th attacks in which evil people killed many of us". Are you ignorant or what neal? We did not go to war in Iraq because of 9-11, that country and its citizens had nothing to do with 9-11. Not to mention President Bush even said it was not because of 9-11, but it was because Iraq had WMDs that could strike America in a matter of minuets. You are just selling your stupidity to the sheeple.

Whoa... here is some history.

After 9/11 it was determined the hijackers were trained in Afghanistan by Al Qaeda and protected by the Taliban (which governed Afghanistan.) THAT is why we invaded Afghanistan.

But we invaded Iraq because after Desert Storm (when Saddam invaded Kuwait we kicked him out) we made him sign a UN Declaration to get rid of WMD. Saddam kept telling everyone he had the nukes to bomb Israel. And President Bush took him at his word and invaded Iraq.

Learn history.

Hear, Hear!!!

But he still shouldn't have invaded. We had him pretty much contained and his scuds couldn't hit anything.
