Neal Barton's POV

I'll skip the village and leave it to mom and dad

"We have to break through our private idea that kids belong to their parents or kids belong to their families," says the professor of political science at Tulane University, where she is founding director of the Anna Julia Cooper Project on Gender, Race, and Politics in the South. Kids belong to whole communities, she insists, and once we realize this we'll make "better investments" in government indoctrination of children.

Do you agree with that?

I posted this on my personal Facebook site last week and many people were outraged.

Our children don't belong to us?

Then, whom do they belong to? This is MSNBC host Melissa Harris in this promo.

She's a teacher at Tulane University in New Orleans.

It's come to this?

I know growing up my friends’ parents would help here and there.

Even dare I say, discipline me, if I was spending the night at their house and may be horsing around and breaking something.

But this, I think, goes way too far, and while we're raising a child in our village.

Interfere with that child when it acts up at the supermarket and see what happens.

Things really, to me, appear to be upside down.

That's my point of view, what’s yours?

All about nothing Neal said he'd just let Mom and Dad raise a child; where has he been ? Maybe those divorce attorneys have him fooled about the family after the big "D", and how Dad's are still part of the process after Mom has him taken out of the picture, or maybe he hasn't gone to a public school to meet baby's daddy, or maybe he just doesn't watch what's on TV after he see's himself to understand the modern LGBT family. Mom and Dad, get real Neal, maybe in your 1950's racist white America.

I heard it stated that only 17 % of American families consist of two heterosexual parents. How is a nation to endure unless indentured to the state?

You are so right Katie. God has been left out for so long most people don't even think about what His word has said.

God's not been left out of anything. If you need the Government to tell you about God, then something is wrong. Some people think it's more fun to use "God" to condemn others rather than the more boring job of patterning their life after the Bible and his commandments.

A few years back she would have been bequeathed copious amounts of petroleum products and fowl parts. I'm still looking but as of yet I haven't found anything in the Constitution about child indoctrination.

I'm just glad he moved off gun control for now. If getting riled up abot some obscure think-tank saying we need to invest in our children gets him to bring up something new, then so be it. He seems to clamor for the return of the 1950s idealized version of the American homelife, but other than that, I really don't understand what his point is.

A fundamental belief of those Americans with a tribal heritage this essential of socialism has been parroted from many in our govt. as an excuse to undermine family values, the foundation which Anglo-America is built upon. Hillary, a non-Anglo ethnic, spoke these words to a nanny-state unaccustomed to the demands of socialism, that the family unit plays havoc on a state agenda of assigned placement, the two cannot coexist. There is no America without a family unit, now media redefines family.

You are just seeing a small portion of what is to come. I tremble when I see what has become of our country. "It is not in man that walketh to direct his own steps." God had the ideal home, but America wanted free sex, abortion, adultery, fornication, divorce, drugs, alcohol etc. "The way of the transgressor is hard."
