Leave it alone

Just leave it alone.

I hate it when meddlesome politicians just can't pass a law and still have to keep fiddling with it.

In my opinion, the Castle Doctrine is a good law.

I mean, in Texas, if someone breaks into your house--- your castle ---or your car and you're in it, an extension
of your castle, you have the right to use a firearm to defend yourself.

This may end up with you killing the intruder.

Now, a liberal state senator from Dallas wants to fiddle with the law. You see, in the DFW area the past week, there has been two cases of someone using a firearm to protect their lives and property from no-good intruders who were breaking in to steal or worse.

But now, state Senator Royce West wants a changes in the Castle Doctrine.

You see right now, the police, the people first on scene who know something about firearms, make the
call whether the person protecting themselves will be prosecuted or no charges will be filed.

Senator West wants to take the information from the shooting and bring it before a grand jury.

Why?

Let's just clog up the courts even more.

I'll take the words from police officers who deal with dangerous people and know most of the thugs who
do breaking and entering over months later go through a grand jury.

Senator West, let the law work. Go find something else to so.

This sort of lack of common sense makes me glad the Texas legislature only meets every two years.

That's my point of view, what's yours?

In these cases where someone uses lethal force, we should attempt to ascertain the truth. If the goal is to seek the truth, I would have more faith in a grand jury where all the facts are presented than just trusting the opinion of the first responder. The job of the police is to enforce the law, not interpret it.

Sen. West is just trying to protect all of obama's sons from on-site justice.

Neal, you should get your FACTS right before you open your mouth. I agree, the law should bet left alone but you stated "You see right now, the police, the people first on scene who know something about firearms, make the call whether the person protecting themselves will be prosecuted or no charges will be filed". The truth is, the police only make the call to arrest and charge or not. The police do not make the call whether the person protecting themselves will be prosecuted.
