Neal Barton's POV

Let's learn to read, then join the union

CNN reported today, the Michigan state House has voted 58-51 to approve a "right-to-work" bill covering public employees.

There is a big squabble going on in that state right now about union vs the state becoming a right to work state.

It looks like Wisconsin 6 months ago. The unions carried a bunch of people in to the state capitol. They're yelling and raising Cain.

Also, as part of the protest trying to ensure unions will not lose any ground is the teachers in some of the school districts
are all calling in sick.

Well, if it's all about the kids, the teachers took off on them.

Today, parents were scrambling to find baby sitters because their children had no where to go. Some districts are treating todays "sick-out" as a snow day.

This is a political hot potato. The unions are losing prestige and they are going to do anything they can to hang on to it.

But with all the back and forth, one thing is not being reported very much.

The Daily Caller reports, in the public schools in Detroit, Mich., according to the U.S. Department of Education, only 7 percent of the eighth graders are grade-level proficient or better in reading. It's obvious something with the school system there is not working. We should be more intent on fixing the 7 percent number thats holding on to political power.

That's my point of view, what's yours?

The T-Publicans did this because the workers voted for Obama and for their greedy corporate donors. Just wait till the mid term elections and the next govornors election in several republican states and Congress. Many Pubs will be looking for one of those minimum wage jobs in a right to work for less states.

The Republican controlled Michigan state House. The Republican controlled Michigan legislature took off on the kids and the Teachers. The Unions are not losing prestige, the American workers are losing RIGHTS in FAVOR OF GREEDY CORPORATIONS AND GREEDY WORKERS WHO WANT THE BENEFITS THAT COME WITH UNION MEMBERSHIP BUT DO NOT WANT TO PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE OF WHAT IT COST FOR THOSE BENEFITS. Republicans wanting something for nothing.

Why don;t you go up there and join the unions and get all the benifits. It has to be better than living here and working for less, right Don.

I think I will stay here and work on making it a better place for my children and your children by having laws to protect them in the work place by making Texas a collective bargining state.
