And the next time the federal government wants more, think about where that money goes.

What if I told you that homeland security needs close to a million dollars to study cats.

Well, I'd be close. It actually is spending $771,000 put put up cameras to track jaguars.

You got it.

A Facebook posting from Arizona Governor Jan Brewer recently stated "I learned today that the Department of Homeland Security is spending $771,000 to put up cameras in our desert to track.... jaguars! The study will evaluate what impact that the U.S.-Mexican border fence, illegal aliens, and vehicles and equipment used to pursue illegal aliens have had on the jaguar population."

Another media source says it's true.

AZStarNet.com verifies "Starting next year, jaguars will be the target of an extensive network of remote cameras placed across Southern Arizona and southwest New Mexico."

120 locations will have two cameras set up for the three-year study aimed at learning the habits and movements of jaguars along the US-Mexican border.

Jaguars have been listed as endangered in the United States for 15 years.

I'm all for protecting them. I'm more in favor of protecting us.

This seems like a silly waste of taxpayer money right now when we are in such financial shape.
