tyler — Bernie sanders is a socialist. He's also a senator from the state of Vermont.
And this week he is proposing a bill that I agree with.
In fact, I also applaud the six other liberal senators that are co-sponsoring this legislation.
Here's what it is about: gasoline prices.
Sanders is quoted in The Hill newspaper saying "millions of American consumers are hurting as a result of excessive speculation on the oil futures market and the future of our economy hangs in the balance. The time to act is now,".
What they are trying to do is to put the squeeze on big-time speculators in the oil market.
There is a host of traders who get in cheap and then bet for or against the prices.
Right now, the way the law is set up, they have little to lose and a lot to gain.
Sanders proposed law is to clamp down on them.
And this is one of the many reasons the price of oil is sky high now now.
The president and his energy chief won't do anything about it.
By the way, President Obama's energy secretary was asked this week what type of grade he's give himself of handling the gas prices.
He says he thought he deserved an A+.
Since these guys don't get it, maybe these liberal senators do.
And speaking of "not getting it", Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois wants Congress to get in on the NFL bounty problem.
I think the NFL policed itself enough this week when it hammered the New Orleans Saints.
We need government to get out of where it doesn't belong.
But it does belong hammering speculators, probably many of whom don't even drive a car, making life harder for those trying to make ends meet.
That's my point of view, what's yours?
